Bruno's History
In 1951, Bruno Itin immigrated to Indiana from his home in Switzerland. Upon his arrival, he found a job in construction in Gary, where he worked for two years. During this time Bruno took a second job as a baker at the "Famous Flamingo" restaurant where he continued to practice the trade he originally learned in Switzerland.

Bruno left Gary in 1953 and moved to South Bend where he was employed at the "Volcano" restaurant until 1955. Bruno then moved to West Lafayette and established his own restaurant- "Bruno's Pizza." When the restaurant first opened, Bruno's now famous pizza was the only item served. As the business grew, Bruno added a variety of unique Swiss, Italian, German, and American dishes to the menu.

After an extensive remodeling project in 1970, Bruno changed the name of the restaurant to "Bruno's Swiss Inn." The name reflected the Swiss Chalet design of the "new" restaurant. Additional remodeling and expansion was completed in 1976, and the restaurant was furnished in authentic artifacts of Switzerland to provide and atmosphere reminiscent of the mountainside inn.

In 1998, due to US 231 road construction, Bruno's relocated to a new location across the street from the old restaurant. Bruno's new building, located at 212 Brown Street, features Big O's Sport Room (Go Purdue!) as well as rooms with the Swiss design of the old restaurant. Bruno's thanks all of their customers and employees for making the new move and hope to continue providing good food and service for many years to come.

The Golf Preserve at Frankfort is a beautiful, 18-hole classic and traditional golf course. The golf course was established in early 1926 and features small, well-manicured greens that are accented by white sand bunkers.

Every shot is challenged by tall heather, towering pines and oak trees, hidden mounds and the Prairie Creek, which comes into play on several holes. The course is a pure delight to play, and can be found only 20 minutes from Lafayette and 45 minutes from Indianapolis.

The Golf Preserve is a full-service facility which caters to all golfers. We have established programs for juniors, ladies, seniors, and men. In addition, the old clubhouse provides a wonderful setting for your special event up to a group of 225.

The Golf Preserve is a soft spike facility. We are dedicated to our local environment. There are areas that are home to species of birds found only in Central Indiana. We require that all golfers keep carts out of these environmentally sensitive areas.

The Golf Preserve is located in Clinton County, an area long known for it's production of agricultural products. Prominent industries in Frankfort include Frito-Lay, ADM , Federal Mogul, the National Cigar Company, Emerson Controls, Zachary Confections and General Seating.

The Golf Preserve is a full service golf course open to all golfers. This includes a practice range, putting and chipping greens, food and beverage, a fully stocked golf shop, instruction, club fitting and club repair.
